BARBERTON, South Africa –  A mine manager says rescuers are still searching for three people trapped underground after a collapse at a South African mine.

General manager Mike Begg said Saturday that rescuers have not found the mobile office container that sank underground when the Makonjwaan Lily gold mine collapsed on Friday morning. Three people, two women and one man, who distributed headlamps to the miners, were in the office at the time.

An emotional Begg told reporters that families of the missing workers sang and prayed throughout the 36-hour search at the mine in the eastern Mpumalanga province. The mine collapsed when an underground pillar caved in.

Begg said all 87 miners who were trapped underground were rescued and brought to the surface. Paramedics said the rescued miners had no serious injuries.
