OAKLAND, Calif. – Officials say a Seattle-bound Alaska Airlines jetliner carrying 150 people returned to the Oakland shortly after takeoff after hitting a bird. No injuries were reported.
Oakland International Airport spokesman Brian Kidd says the plane encountered the bird strike at 7:01 p.m. Friday and landed without incident about 20 minutes later.

Kidd says Flight 349 had taken off for Seattle at 6:47 p.m.
Alaska Airlines spokeswoman Halley Knigge told Seattle’s KOMO-TV that the plane returned out of “an abundance of caution.” It was being inspected Friday night.
She says the plane was carrying 144 passengers and six crew members.
