Why Raphinha & Rodrigo are absent for Leeds’ meeting with Tottenham

An explanation for the respective, and likely costly absences of Raphinha and Rodrigo from Leeds United’s matchday squad to face Tottenham Hotspur has been provided online this afternoon.

Lilywhites test

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are of course set to return to action shortly.

In their first outing on the back of the international break, the Whites have made the trip to north London for a Premier League showdown with the aforementioned Spurs.

Leeds head into the clash hopeful of building on a timely upturn in form of late, which has seen them secure two wins and two draws from the club’s last five league outings.

Sunday’s visitors will no doubt be wary of the potential new manager bounce at Tottenham, though, with Antonio Conte eyeing a third successive outing without defeat since taking up the reins from Nuno Espirito Santo in the English capital.

Raph & Rod miss out

As such, it goes without saying that Marcelo Bielsa was no doubt desperate to have as many of his side’s key performers as possible fit and available to feature from the off on Sunday.

In turn, upon word spreading in the buildup to the clash that neither Raphinha or Rodrigo had been spotted alongside the rest of Leeds’ stars at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, panic quickly began to set in.

And, as alluded to above, such concerns proved well justified.

As confirmed by the Peacocks themselves a short time ago, both Raphinha and Rodrigo are indeed set to miss out this evening, owing to illness and injury respectively:
