Rennes’ sporting director has spoken out about reported interest in one of the club’s brightest talents, Eduardo Camavinga.
Camavinga attracting interest
Camavinga is one of the hottest young prospects in world football at the moment.
The Frenchman will not turn 19 until November, but is already an absolutely integral part of Rennes’ side.
Camavinga featured 25 times in Ligue 1 during 2019/20, playing a key role in his side securing a Champions League berth.
And the 2020/21 campaign saw the midfielder notch a further 35 league appearances for Rennes.
His impressive form at such a young age has unsurprisingly seen some top clubs tipped to move for the midfielder, including both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Reports stemming from France, meanwhile, also added Arsenal to the mix for the teenager.
Man United & Camavinga
In more recent days, though, it is another Premier League side who have been most heavily linked with the Frenchman.
That side has been Manchester United, with it claimed that the Red Devils hasd even made contact with the midfielder’s entourage.
Now though, as mentioned above, Rennes’ sporting director has spoken out on the situation.
Speaking recently, Florian Maurice stated that no offers have been received from Manchester United or Ligue 1 powerhouse, PSG.
He adds that he knows Camavinga does not want to go on a free, seemingly suggesting that he will leave this summer as his current contract runs out next year.
“No offer was received for Eduardo Camavinga, neither from PSG nor from Manchester United.
“We remain calm about his situation. I know he doesn’t want to go [on a] free.”
