Watford set asking price for Liverpool & Crystal Palace-linked Sarr

A report in the English media on Wednesday has provided an insight into the kind of fee that Watford are apparently seeking to part with Ismaila Sarr.

Watford standout

Sarr has been plying his trade at Vicarage Road for just over a year now.

The Hornets secured the winger’s services from Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais for a fee believed to be around the £27m mark.

Since moving to England, Sarr has proven pretty successful when it comes to goal contributions.

The African featured in 28 of Watford’s 38 Premier League outings this past season.

Across these appearances, Sarr managed to net five and assist six, a solid record considering how poorly Watford performed for the majority of the campaign.

Watford’s asking price for Sarr

Sarr now has just under four years remaining on his contract, and, on the back of his impressive debut season in England, Watford are no doubt keen to maintain the 22-year-old’s services for as long as possible.

However, with the Hornets set to ply their trade in the Championship next season, clubs in England’s top-flight have inevitably begun to express an interest in Sarr.

So far, all of Liverpool, Wolves and Crystal Palace have been linked with the winger, with the latter of these sides said to be eyeing the Watford man as a potential replacement for Wilfried Zaha.

And now, as mentioned above, Sarr’s suitors have been provided with an idea of how much they would have to cough up to land the rising star.

According to Sky Sports News:

Watford are willing to sell Ismaila Sarr this summer but want more than £40m for the 22-year-old forward.

Such a fee is likely to prove too much for Liverpool, with Jurgen Klopp having recently opened up on the effects of Covid-19 on his potential transfer dealings this summer.

But if Crystal Palace do end up parting with Wilfried Zaha, the funds raised could well see the Eagles, in turn, swoop for Sarr.
