Velodrome showdown postponed

Andre Villas-Boas’ men were due to get their Ligue 1 campaign back underway on Saturday night.

OM had a scheduled meeting with Rennes in store, at the Stade Velodrome.

If the latest word stemming from the French media over the last hour is to be believed, however, then the clash in fact now appears to have been called off.

This comes after Marseille’s ‘fans’ launched a staggering attack on the club’s training ground a short time ago.

Villas-Boas’ outfit have struggled of late, amid a 4-game losing streak across all competitions.

And such struggles on the pitch, combined with long-standing issues drawn with club president Jacques-Henri Eyraud, have today seen one particularly incensed section of the Marseille faithful take matters into their own hands.

In turn, as per mounting reports from RMC Sport and more, OM will not take to the pitch this evening as planned, with their meeting with Rennes set to be rescheduled for another date:
