Manchester United 5 – Bournemouth 2
Man United extended their unbeaten run to 16 matches on Saturday following a 5-2 win against Bournemouth.
Junior Stanislas stunned the Red Devils when he fired Bournemouth ahead after 15 minutes at Old Trafford. But that was as good as it got for Eddie Howe’s men, who remain second-bottom of the league after Saturday’s battering.
Mason Greenwood levelled for United after 29 minutes, before a Marcus Rashford penalty put the hosts ahead.
Anthony Martial rifled a shot into the far top corner as United went 3-1 up before the break.
While Josh King pulled Bournemouth back in it from the penalty spot after 49 minutes, Man United were soon out of sight.
Greenwood bagged his second of the game before a 5th from Bruno Fernandes wrapped up the points.
Victor Lindelof injured before Aston Villa
The only downside to Man United’s win against Bournemouth was a fresh injury to Swedish centre-half Victor Lindelof.
Lindelof was subbed out the game for Eric Bailly at halftime.
Will the defender be fit for Aston Villa on Thursday night?
Speaking to BT Sport after Bournemouth, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered the following insight on whether Lindelof will be available for the Aston Villa game:
He struggled today with his back so, hopefully, he won’t be too bad.
“They’re good friends, they’re good mates, they challenge each other!”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is delighted to see his forward line flying, with special praise for Mason Greenwood! 👊

In another interview with MUTV, Solskjaer expanded on Lindelof’s injury:
Victor felt his back. So there was no need to take any risks.
But Eric’s fine. He’s got his game, 45 minutes, played against Norwich, played against West Brom [in a friendly at Old Trafford before the Premier League’s resumption], so he’ll be fine playing.

Leicester’s Nigerians react to Man United’s big win
Man United’s win against Bournemouth left them in 5th spot on 55 points.
If Man City fail to overturn their UEFA ban, 5th sport in the Premier League would secure a Champions League berth next season.
However, if City overturn that ban, Man United would need to break into the top 4 to earn that UCL sport.
Chelsea are 2 points above United, while Leicester are 3 points clear of the Red Devils.
Leicester won their first match since football restarted on Saturday as they beat Crystal Palace 3-0.
After the Palace game, Leicester’s Nigerian international, Wilfried Ndidi, filmed Kelechi Iheanacho looking on his phone at the result of the Man United game.
Kelechi Iheanacho revealed that Man United scored five goals, while the duo shared the following conversation about Greenwood, Martial and Bruno.
Ndidi: How many Greenwood score:
Iheanacho and his shawarma: Two
Ndidi: Who score again?
Iheanacho: Martial score one, Rashford score one, Bruno Fernandes e dey always score.
Ndidi: Wetin you dey chop?
Kelechi Iheanacho and his shawarma: See, na life I dey chop 🤣 pic.twitter.com/ApzSv5H7Y4
