An insight into the future of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette has emerged recently.

Lacazette’s Arsenal stint

Alexandre Lacazette would join Arsenal from Lyon back in 2017.

The Frenchman has since featured on 178 occasions for the Gunners, scoring 68 and assisting 29 along the way.

Now, though, Arsenal have a decision to make when it comes to the striker’s future.

Lacazette is still a regular feature under Mikel Arteta, and his recent form, including against Leicester City on Saturday, has been solid and key to Arsenal’s recent upturn in form.

However, the Frenchman is also in the final 12 months of his current contract. This means that Arsenal could lose him for nothing next summer, and that foreign clubs could seal a pre-contract agreement with the striker as early as January 2022.

Of course, the north Londoners could offer him a new deal, but with Lacazette now 30, is that the best idea given their recent track record with poor contract decisions?

Lacazette to snub contract offer

Based on recent form alone, some fans may be inclined to offer their ageing striker a new deal.

If Arsenal were able to potentially get him to sign a short deal, perhaps two years, on less money than he is one now, that would likely appease most of the Gunners faithful.

Regardless of this, though, it appears as though the decision has been taken out of Arsenal’s hands.

According to football.london citing reports stemming from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Lacazette will reject any new contract offer he is given.

This is of course a blow for Arsenal and likely means they will need to sing a striker in one of the next two transfer windows.
