Southampton star Toby Alderweireld has conceded that he does not know where his future lies.

The defender is on loan at Saints from Atletico Madrid and they have an option to buy him this summer, but he is wanted by Premier League big guns Manchester City and Chelsea, as well as Tottenham.

Alderweireld has impressed greatly during his time on the south coast, but he says he will speak to parent club Atletico Madrid to find out whether he has a long-term future in Spain.

LAURIE WHITWELL: Thibaut Courtois has encouraged Jose Mourinho to complete his move for Radamel Falcao.

Chelsea are expected to sign the Colombian striker on loan from Monaco and Courtois would be keen to reunite with the 29-year-old.

The pair won the Europa League together for Atletico Madrid in 2012, with Falcao scoring twice in the final against Athletic Bilbao and Courtois keeping a clean sheet.

SIMON JONES: Manchester City are launching a bid for Fulham’s highly-rated forward Patrick Roberts.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the best emerging English talents and has interest from Manchester United and Chelsea too but City are pushing ahead with a deal as they look to boost the level of homegrown players in their squad.

Fulham have offered Roberts a new contract worth around £5,000 a week and want him to stay at Craven Cottage where they believe it would be better for his development.

New Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel has decided to bolster his goalkeeper options by signing Roman Burki from Freiburg.

Burki, who will compete with Roman Weidenfeller, has been capped twice by Switzerland.

RICHARD ARROWSMITH: Tuttosport reports that goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon had a ‘long chat’ with Mario Mandzukic, who has fallen out with Atletico coach Diego Simeone, urging him to choose Turin over a proposed move to Manchester United.

Despite being left with 10 stitches after a clash with Mandzukic, Buffon still had time to try and convince the Croatia striker to come to Juventus.

The prolific Atletico Madrid forward scored the opening goal in Croatia’s 1-1 with Italy in Friday’s Euro 2016 Group H qualifier – where Buffon’s brave attempted save came at the cost of an injury that will keep him out of Tuesday’s friendly with Portugal.

ROB DRAPER: Cristiano Ronaldo has told Real Madrid that he wants to stay at the club next season following the appointment of new manager Rafa Benitez.

Benitez has spoken to most key players since his appointment two weeks ago and Ronaldo, who scored a hat-trick for Portugal against Armenia on Saturday night, has reiterated his commitment to the new manager despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain and past tensions with Real president Florentino Perez.

JOE BERNSTEIN: Germany international Ilkay Gundogan is the club’s top target having already sealed a £25million deal for PSV and Holland winger Memphis Depay.

Gundogan, 24, has a year left on his contract at Borussia Dortmund but has told his club he would like to leave.

In addition, United need to sign a right back with Southampton and England’s Nathaniel Clyne a possibility.

David de Gea’s impending departure for Real Madrid means United have to decide whether to sign a new No 1 or give ex-Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes an extended run in the team.

JOE BERNSTEIN: Everton are poised to sign £3million Barcelona winger Gerard Deulofeu after beating off competition from other Premier League clubs for the 21-year-old Spaniard.

The move represents a return to Goodison Park for Deulofeu who scored four goals in 30 matches during a season-long loan under Roberto Martinez in 2013/14 when Everton qualified for the Europa League.

Last season was less successful for both parties with Deulofeu struggling on loan at Sevilla and Everton finishing in the bottom half of the table.

SIMON JONES: Roma have revived interest in Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnia international will be allowed to leave Eastlands but City want close to £20million for a player who still has three years left on contract.

The 29-year-old has been touted for a move to Liverpool but the Anfield club are not interested although Chelsea and Arsenal have considered him.

It seems like Manchester United are going to have to step up their efforts to sign a new goalkeeper as Real Madrid are so confident of signing David de Gea that they have made Iker Casillas available for transfer.

Sportsmail’s  Rob Draper reports: Real Madrid are sure that David de Gea will join them from Manchester United this summer and are actively looking for a buyer for Iker Casillas, with Tottenham being one of the clubs touted as a potential destination.

Casillas wants to leave given that he will be the No 2 keeper when De Gea arrives, but he is owed £8million on the final year of his contract, a sum Real are reluctant to pay.

However, if a club were ready to pay up the contract, then Real would be happy for him to leave – though Tottenham would only do so if Hugo Lloris pushes for a move to Manchester United to replace De Gea.
