Son in sensational form

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last few weeks you are probably well aware of the sensational start to the season Heung-min Son has had.

After just seven league outings this campaign, Son has already managed to notch a staggering eight goals and two assists.

This makes the forward the joint-top scorer in the Premier League right now and is a big reason why Spurs currently boast the best attack in the English top-flight.

Son’s link-up play with Harry Kane is a particular highlight, with the pair now the second-best duo in Premier League history when it comes to combined goal contributions.

Heung-min Son set for new Tottenham deal?

So, the news that Son is reportedly being offered a fresh deal by Tottenham will no doubt comes as music to their fans ears.

The South Korean currently has just under three years left on his Spurs contract.

Despite this, Football Insider are reporting that Tottenham owner Joe Lewis has sanctioned a ‘Harry Kane-style mega contract’ offer for the forward.

Said offer would reportedly see Son earn £200,000-a-week plus performance-related bonuses, with the north Londoners said to be expecting the deal to be tied up by the end of 2020.

Jose Mourinho has also recently spoken out over Son’s contract situation, stating he believes Son wants to commit his future to the club:

“I believe that he would like to commit his future to the club for more time. It is the club, and everybody in the club, being totally in love for this player and for this boy, and trying also to make him feel part of the furniture. And, of course, it’s normal that the club tries to go from three to four or five or six, I don’t know, but it’s normal.

“But it’s a very calm situation because Sonny has three more years of contract. But I wish, he deserves it and the club knows that. And I believe that sooner or later they will, without any pressure, they will arrive into a decision.”
