Tottenham look to life beyond Lloris

Hugo Lloris has been a brilliant servant to Tottenham Hotspur across several different regimes.

The 34-year-old has been on the white side of north London since joining from Lyon in 2012, and has made almost 400 appearances for the Lilywhites. During that time, he has also gone on to become the France no.1 and amass over 130 caps for Les Blues.

However, he is out of contract this summer, and while there is an option on Tottenham’s behalf to extend his contract should they wish to, they have already begun planning for a future without him.

Part of this planning involved the signing of Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta, on a season-long loan with an option to buy, who could be viewed as a long term replacement to the Frenchman should the option to purchase be exercised.

However, another name has entered the frame in recent days.

Tottenham target Pickford

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, it is England no.1 and current Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford that Tottenham have allegedly lined up, as per the Telegraph.

As per the report, Conte is looking to add a homegrown goalkeeper to his ranks, and as such it would make sense that Tottenham should look to the no.1 of the national side. However, he would not come cheap, with The Telegraph suggesting that Everton would demand a fee well above the 25 million pounds that they paid to bring him to the club.

Should the move materialise, it would represent another chance for bragging rights between the two north London clubs, with Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale widely expected to push Jordan Pickford for England’s no.1 jersey in the coming seasons.

Would signing Pickford be a good move for Spurs and Antonio Conte?
