Thomas Tuchel suggests he will continue to rotate Chelsea side following Burnley win

Thomas Tuchel suggests he will continue to rotate Chelsea side following Burnley win

Chelsea down Burnley

Chelsea welcomed Burnley to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon in the day’s early Premier League kick-off.

Said tie was Thomas Tuchel’s second as Chelsea boss, with the German overseeing a 0-0 draw earlier in the week vs Wolves.

Chelsea would dominate that tie, but create very few clear-cut chances.

On Sunday, though, Chelsea would once again dominate the ball, but were able to find the killer instinct in front of goal.

However, it would actually be two defenders who ensured the Londoners came away with all three points.

Cesar Azpilicueta would fire the hosts into the lead just before the break.

Marcos Alonso’s stunning strike then killed the game off with six minutes of normal time to play:

Thomas Tuchel on rotation

Following the game, Tuchel of course held his post-match presser.

Unsurprisingly, the German would be drawn on his team selection when speaking to the media.

Reece James has now missed out on both of Thomas Tuchel’s starting line-ups as Chelsea boss whilst Ben Chilwell, one of the Blues’ more consistent players this term, didn’t feature against Burnley.

When speaking post-match, though, Tuchel explained why he opted for Alonso over Chilwell and you can read more about that here.

The former PSG coach also hinted he would continue to rotate his sides going forward:

Well if we manage to find a starting eleven that can guarantee us to win 20 in a row we will not change it. But it’s of course very unlikely this will happen.

We decided very late for the back three and two sixes, because of the impact we expected from Burnley, and they did very, very well. And we made changes offensively just to have different characteristics and give everyone a chance to show up in competition.

It’s super-hard in selection, or maybe also super-easy because I’m giving everyone the chance to show their abilities.
