Thierry Henry provides update on Daniel Ek’s Arsenal takeover bid

An altogether exciting 24 hours at Premier League giants Arsenal has continued on Monday evening.

Arsenal march on

The Gunners were of course back in Premier League action yesterday evening, welcoming Spurs to the Emirates for the latest edition of the North London Derby.

Mikel Arteta’s men headed into proceedings brimming with confidence, hopeful of making it four wins on the bounce after recovering from a dismal opening to the campaign.

And, when all was said and done in the capital, keep their resurgence alive is precisely what Arsenal managed.

A scintillating display ultimately culminated in a 3-1 victory, guiding the hosts into the top half of the English top-flight for the first time this season.

Strikes from all of Emile Smith Rowe, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Bukayo Saka inside the opening 35 minutes put the Gunners firmly out of sight before the half-time whistle had even sounded, with Heung-min Son’s late finish, in the end, little more than a consolation.

‘Here to stay’

In turn, it is safe to say that the feel good factor on the red half of North London is alive and well once more.

And, on Monday, the positive news for the Arsenal faithful has only continued to flow.

This comes with club legend Thierry Henry, speaking during an appearance on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, having provided an update on Daniel Ek’s attempted Emirates takeover.

Swedish businessman Ek, the CEO of music streaming giant Spotify, made clear his intentions to purchase Arsenal from long-maligned owners the Kroenkes back in May.

In the end, the pursuit came to nothing, but, if the latest comments on the part of Henry, a firm endorser of Ek’s takeover efforts, are anything to go by, then the lifelong Gunners supporter appears far from ready to give up:

‘To be able to get there, you need to have someone to respond on either side, it didn’t happen yet. We, he, is here to stay. Let’s see what’s going to happen.’

‘For the moment, we enjoyed obviously the win yesterday.’

‘I think it’s going to be long. I think you remember me saying it’s going to be long. How long it’s going to be, I don’t actually know but we are here to stay.’
