The latest on terms of Danny Rose’s Newcastle’s loan

An update on Newcastle United’s hopes of retaining the services of loanee Danny Rose for the remainder of the campaign has been forthcoming online.

Rose joins Newcastle

On the back of weeks of speculation, English stopper Rose’s move to St. James’ Park was made official on deadline day back in January.

The transfer made sense for all parties involved, with Newcastle having been on the lookout for reinforcements at left-back following the long-term injury picked up by Jetro Willems, and Rose majorly struggling for game-time at Spurs.

On the back of Jose Mourinho replacing Mauricio Pochettino on the club’s bench at the end of November, the 29-year-old had managed just a solitary Premier League start.

As a result, Rose put pen-to-paper on an agreement with Steve Bruce’s Magpies for the remainder of the campaign:

Rose to stay put

Rose has since gone on to establish himself as a regular in Newcastle’s backline, earning starts in the club’s last 5 outings across all competitions.

This, in turn, has resulted in widespread reports that the Magpies are likely to attempt to make their on-loan stopper’s arrival permanent ahead of next season.

As things stand, however, Rose’s place at St. James’ for the remainder of the current campaign is not guaranteed.

The COVID-19 outbreak of course threw loan deals across the United Kingdom and beyond into doubt, with the terms of most agreements due to expire before the extended season’s predicted end.

As a result, Newcastle will be forced to reopen negotiations with Spurs to extend the duration of Rose’s loan stint, before then seeking out a permanent deal.

As per a report from the Telegraph, though, such an agreement will not be difficult to find.

Tottenham are said to be ready to sanction an extension to Rose’s loan, with the English international set to see out the 2019/20 campaign on Tyneside.

Kyle Walker-Peters is also expected to be granted permission to finish the season with Southampton.
