The latest on Man United’s pursuits of Sancho & Dembele

An update on Manchester United’s respective pursuits of Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele has been forthcoming online on Thursday.

Sancho struggles

Much of the media chatter surrounding Man United this summer has of course centered on the club’s pursuit of reinforcements out wide.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is evidently of the opinion that the key factor missing from his side is an out-and-out winger who can add a new dimension of guile and creativity to the Red Devils’ starting XI.

Jadon Sancho has long been United’s no.1 target to fill this role, but, to this point, an agreement over the appropriate fee has not been forthcoming.

This comes with Borussia Dortmund continuing to demand a premium sum for their crown jewel.

As such, in turn, Ed Woodward and co. have been forced to turn their attentions elsewhere, as next week’s transfer deadline continues to inch closer.

A host of alternative targets have been named of late, with Douglas Costa and Ismaila Sarr just two of those rumoured to have been taken into consideration.

Recent days, however, have seen another blistering wide-man take centre-stage in the Red Devils’ winger pursuit.

The individual in question? Ousmane Dembele.

Fresh off the back of another injury-plagued campaign at the Camp Nou, United have been hotly tipped as a potential landing spot for French international Dembele.

Some outlets in Spain have even gone as far as to suggest that a deal to send the 23-year-old to Manchester is on the verge of completion.

‘Trying to convince the player’

And, as outlined above, amid widespread expectation amongst the Manchester United faithful, an update on the club’s moves for both Dembele and Sancho has this afternoon been provided.

The word comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

As confirmed by the Italian reporter, little has changed when it comes to the future of English international Sancho. Borussia Dortmund continue to demand €120 million for the 20-year-old, with it up to the transfer chiefs at Old Trafford whether or not they are willing to fork over such a sum.

Regarding Dembele, though, the situation appears slightly more positive from a Reds perspective.

Negotiations remain ongoing between United and Barcelona, with the former hoping to secure a loan deal.

In turn, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. are currently attempting to ‘convince’ Dembele of the United project:
