Southampton vs Newcastle United

This week’s Premier League action kicks off on Friday the 6th of November when Southampton play host to Newcastle United.

The Saints head into the tie on the back of a fine run of form.

They would lose their opening two league games of the campaign but have since gone five unbeaten in the Premier League.

Southampton would win four of those ties, with the one draw an entertaining 3-3 affair vs Chelsea.

Such an impressive start to the season has seen Southampton shoot up to 5th in the table.

As for Newcastle, they are currently 11th in the Premier League after winning three, drawing two and losing two.

Hasenhuttl provides Danny Ings update ahead of Newcastle tie

Ralph Hasenhuttl would hold his pre-Newcastle press conference on Wednesday.

The Austrian discussed a number of topics in the presser, one of which was Danny Ings.

Ings carried his superb 2019/20 form into the current season and has already scored five and assisted two in the league.

However, Ings would be forced off through injury in Southampton’s latest clash last weekend.

Following the win over Aston Villa, Hasenhuttl expressed his concern over the injury, stating that it didn’t look good.

And on Wednesday, the news wasn’t much more positive, with Hasenhuttl confirming that Ings could be out for around 4-6 weeks:

“At the moment it looks like he is out for 4-6 weeks. He’ll have a small surgery tomorrow morning. It could be worse, but he’ll be out and it’s not good news for us.”
