Solskjaer insists ‘it won’t be long’ until Cavani makes big impact at Man United

Cavani joins Man United

Manchester United secured Edinson Cavani’s services back in September.

The now 33-year-old was a free agent after his latest PSG contract expired over the summer.

As a result, United were able to sign the Uruguayan to a one-year deal without paying a transfer fee.

And though he is in the twilight years of his career, landing a goalscorer as prolific as Cavani no doubt pleased United fans – especially when their other back-up striker is an out of form Odion Ighalo.

Solskjaer on Cavani’s impact at Man United

However, Cavani is yet to make too much of an impact in Manchester.

The hitman is yet to start a game for United, notching two sub appearances in the Premier League and one in the Champions League.

Despite this, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has faith in the veteran forward.

Speaking ahead of Man United’s clash with Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday, the Norwegian was drawn on Cavani.

And the United boss went on to state that Cavani is improving in terms of his fitness/sharpness and though he hasn’t made a big impact yet, it will not be long before he does so:

“He’s generally a fit man anyway and he’s getting his sharpness in training and he’s got some substitute appearances now.

“We haven’t managed to get him long enough yet to make a big impact but he’s looking sharper and sharper in training so it won’t be long.”
