Sergino Dest nets stunner for USA vs Jamaica, as insight provided into Christian Pulisic being hooked at half-time

The United States’ meeting with Jamaica this evening threw up a host of interesting talking points.

Lletget at the double

Gregg Berhalter’s men were back in action a short time ago, in a friendly showdown with the Reggae Boyz in Austria.

The matchup featured a host of recognisable faces, with Jamaica’s starting XI having included the likes of Adrian Mariappa, Michael Hector and Andre Gray.

It was one of the star performers on the other side, however, who went on to open the game’s scoring, in spectacular fashion.

Fresh off bagging a brace in Barcelona’s drubbing of Real Sociedad last weekend, Sergino Dest surged forward from his unfavoured left-back berth, before cutting onto his right foot, and unleashing a wonderful dipping effort into the far bottom corner:

The United States went on to double their advantage early in the 2nd-half, when Josh Sargent did superbly to pick out Brenden Aaronson for the simplest of finishes from close range:

Jamaica, to their credit, did manage to pull one back 20 minutes from time, but class soon proved telling once more, as Sebastian Lletget killed off any remaining hope of a comeback with a cool late brace:

Pulisic latest

One potential concern for fans of Berhalter’s outfit, on an otherwise positive evening, though, was forthcoming at the interval.

This came when Christian Pulisic, on the back of an altogether hit-and-miss opening 45 minutes, was hauled off somewhat out of the blue.

Such a switch no doubt set hearts racing amongst the Chelsea faithful, with Pulisic having endured a tough time of things to date this season, amid a series of a fitness problems.

But, if the latest word doing the rounds online is to be believed, then fans of the Blues can rest easy.

As reported by the reliable Carefree Youth, an agreement is in place between the United States and Chelsea, for the former to utilise Pulisic sparingly, to ensure that the gifted wide-man returns to Stamford Bridge injury free:
