An insight into why frustration has been growing in the Manchester United squad has been provided on Monday.

Manchester United’s nightmare 2021/22

Manchester United signed Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho during the 2021 summer transfer window.

Said trio were expected to allow Manchester United to take the next step in their development by mounting a proper title challenge and actually winning some form of silverware under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

So far, though, that does not look as though it will be happening anytime soon.

In the Premier League, United are nine points adrift of top spot after just 11 games. They also have the joint-14th worst defence in the English top-flight at present and look miles away from challenging the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.

A potential shot at silverware has too already been closed off as United crashed out of this season’s League Cup in the 3rd round.

Why frustration is growing in the Manchester United squad

Now, amid the struggles at Old Trafford which has seen both Brendan Rodgers and Zinedine Zidane linked with Ole’s job, an insight into the frustration building in Manchester has been provided.

According to ESPN, frustration within the Manchester United squad has grown due to Solskjaer’s reluctance to rotate.

It adds that some squad players feel they have been misled about their prospects of playing this season:

Frustration within the Manchester United squad has grown because of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s reluctance to rotate, sources have told ESPN, with some squad players feeling they have been misled about their prospects of playing this season.

Given that Donny van de Beek’s agent claimed earlier this year that the club had come to a ‘clear agreement’ over playing but the midfielder has since played just 154 minutes of football this term, the above story from ESPN does seem likely to be true.
