Reguilon & Ndombele fitness updates emerge ahead of Spurs vs Newcastle

Updates on the fitness of a number of Tottenham’s stars have been forthcoming online on Friday, ahead of the club’s meeting with Newcastle United.

Spurs vs Newcastle

Jose Mourinho’s men are set to welcome the Magpies to north London on Sunday afternoon.

The Lilywhites will no doubt head into proceedings brimming with confidence, on the back of an upturn in form over the course of the last week.

Spurs’ first outing of the campaign of course saw the capital giants put to the sword by Everton.

Since then, however, they have bounced back with a trio of consecutive victories.

The latest of these came just last night, when Tottenham moved one step closer to the group stages of this season’s Europa League courtesy of a 3-1 downing of Shkendija.

Ndombele doubt/Reguilon to miss out

The star of the show for Spurs on Thursday night, meanwhile, was Tanguy Ndombele.

The French midfielder, oft-criticised for his lacklustre displays last season, showcased the kind of all-round midfield dominance which Jose Mourinho and co. have so long been crying for.

As such, speaking earlier today, the Spurs boss was drawn on whether or not Ndombele is likely to start versus Newcastle, so soon after completing 90 minutes for the first time since 2019.

Mourinho, though, remained non-committal, admitting that, as things stand, it remains to be seen whether Ndombele recovers in time to feature on Sunday:

One individual who will certainly not be lining out for the Lilywhites this weekend, though, is Sergio Reguilon.

Spanish stopper Reguilon of course sealed a high-profile move to north London earlier this month, after departing long-time club Real Madrid.

But, as confirmed by reliable injury analyst Ben Dinnery, an ankle issue has seen the 23-year-old ruled out versus Newcastle, with fellow summer arrival Gareth Bale also, as expected, set to miss out:
