RB Leipzig’s sporting director claims they haven’t received any approaches for Liverpool-linked Timo Werner

Werner impressing with Leipzig

RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner is one of the most in-form strikers in Europe at the moment.

Leipzig are having a sensational season and are still in with a shot of ending Bayern Munich’s dominance over the Bundesliga.

There are a number of factors behind Leipzig’s success this term but a big one is certainly Werner.

The German international has scored a very impressive 21 goals in 24 league outings this season whilst also providing seven assists.

The 23-year-old has also been integral to the German outfit’s Champions League success this campaign as well and would score the only goal of the game as Leipzig beat Tottenham 1-0 in the first of two round of 16 ties.

Liverpool & Werner

In the wake of his superb form, Werner has been linked with a move to the current European champions and soon to be Premier League champions, Liverpool.

SPORTBILD’s Christian Falk reported in February that Jurgen Klopp is interested in bringing the Leipzig hitman to Liverpool. Falk also claimed that Werner has a clause in his contract that could see him leave for around €60m in the summer, as long as it is activated by the end of April.

Werner has also been speaking quite highly of both Klopp and Liverpool lately, labelling the German the best coach in the world.

Sky Sports News then reported that Werner favours a move to Liverpool, as long as he gets to play.

Despite all of this though, RB Leipzig’s sporting director Markus Krosche has stated that they haven’t received any approaches for Werner:

“There has been nothing at all.

“But it’s normal that Timo gets into the focus of other clubs. He’s playing a very, very good season and scores very, very often

“Timo has a long-term contract and there are not many things that favour him leaving us.

“We play Champions League, we have a super coaching team and we still want to achieve a lot.” As quoted by the Mirror.
