Premier League outfit Arsenal have been dealt a blow on the personnel front on Saturday, after defender Sead Kolasinac was forced to limp out of international duty with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Finland triumphant

‘Kola’ was back in action a short time ago.

In their latest World Cup qualifying fixture, the aforementioned Bosnia welcomed Finland to the Bilino Polje stadium, for a Group D showdown.

Ivaylo Petev’s men headed into proceedings aware that a positive result was of the utmost importance, amid their efforts to secure runners-up spot behind table-topping France.

When all was said and done on Saturday, however, despite dominating both in terms of possession and chances created, Bosnia were ultimately put to the sword by three goals to one.

Strikes on the part of Marcus Forss, Robin Lod and Daniel O’Shaughnessy assured that Luka Menalo’s 2nd-half effort, upon the full-time whistle sounding, proved little more than a consolation for the hosts, who, in turn, have slipped to 4th in the Group D table.

Gunners concern

As alluded to above, however, the disappointing nature of the eventual result in Zenica in fact proved far from the only concern for Petev’s Bosnia on Saturday.

This comes with The Dragons having also been dealt a blow on the personnel front.

Ahead of another qualifying outing on Tuesday, this time against Ukraine, Bosnia saw key defender Sead Kolasinac carried from the field of play shortly before half-time.

A horror challenge on the part of Jukka Raitala saw Kolasinac’s left ankle bend to a near-90 degree angle, as showcased below:

The Arsenal stopper, who has struggled for regular playing time in north London over the early months of the campaign, was subsequently helped from the field of play by the home side’s medical team, ahead of a predicted spell on the sidelines over the coming weeks.
