Official confirmation of Martin Odegaard’s Arsenal switch has emerged on Wednesday.
Arsenal making changes
With the final week of the winter transfer window now upon us, Arsenal have been fairly busy.
The Gunners have been active when it comes to both incomings and outgoings.
In terms of players leaving the club, Mesut Ozil has made the move to Turkish outfit Fenerbahçe, Sokratis agreed to terminate his contract at the Emirates, and both Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba have departed on loan.
Reiss Nelson has also recently been linked with a loan move to the Championship
When it comes to arrivals, meanwhile, the Gunners recently secured the services of Matt Ryan on loan for the remainder of the season – a solid bit of business given the lack of depth between the posts in north London since Emiliano Martinez departed for Aston Villa.
Arsenal sign Odegaard
Arsenal were also heavily linked with a loan swoop for Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard:
Real Madrid and Arsenal have been negotiating for Ødegaard also tonight.
The agreement is really close as reported yesterday – there are still details to be sorted out. No Real Sociedad, no Ajax: Ødegaard wants Arsenal.
He’s now pushing to join #AFC in the coming hours. 🇳🇴⌛️

Now, on Wednesday, the Gunners have indeed confirmed that the Norwegian has made the move to north London.
In a post across the clubs’ social media platforms and website, Arsenal stated that Odegaard has joined on loan for the remainder of the season.
Mikel Arteta had this to say on Odegaard’s signing:
“It’s great that we’ve secured Martin to come to us until the end of the season. Martin is of course a player that we all know very well and although still young, he has been playing at the top level for a while. Martin will provide us with quality offensive options and we’re all excited to be integrating him into our plans between now and May.”
👋 Welcome to The Arsenal, Martin Odegaard! 🇳🇴
