‘Not good enough’: Liverpool fans call for right-back reinforcement following Neco Williams blunder vs Denmark

Liverpool’s supporters have taken to social media in their numbers on Saturday evening, to react to Neco Williams’ costly error versus Denmark.

Dolberg at the double

Williams is currently locked in action against the Danes, as Wales aim to replicate the nation’s heroics of five years ago, by booking a spot in the European Championships’ quarter-finals.

As things stand a little over ten minutes from time, however, Robert Page’s men are headed very much towards the exit door.

Despite opening the clash like a house on fire, the Dragons have since been completely pinned back by an impressive Denmark outfit.

Kasper Dolberg opened the evening’s scoring just shy of the half-hour mark, latching onto Mikkel Damsgaard’s clever pass to lash a powerful effort inside Danny Ward’s far post:

And Dolberg was back at it again early in the 2nd-half, this time drilling a fine strike in at the near post, from close range:

Reds react

As showcased in the footage above, whilst Denmark’s first of the evening came about courtesy of simple individual brilliance on the part of Kasper Hjulmand’s men, their crucial 2nd was essentially laid on a plate by Wales.

The individual at fault came in the form of Neco Williams, with the stopper, less than ten minutes after being introduced to the fray, having completely miscued his attempted clearance, to tee up brace-hitter Dolberg.

His latest mistake came fresh on the back of a difficult evening for Williams last time out, too, when the youngster was taught something of a lesson by Italy’s Federico Chiesa.

And such struggles, unsurprisingly, have not gone at all unnoticed amongst the Liverpool faithful.

As outlined above, Reds across the globe have this evening taken to social media, to express their concern with Williams’ performances. This comes with the 20-year-old, as things stand, the first-choice natural backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield.

Many have therefore called for reinforcements at right-back ahead of the new season, with just some of the Twitter highlights showcased below:
