Mourinho believes Tottenham could be champions ‘in many European countries’

Tottenham see off West Brom

Tottenham travelled to West Brom on Sunday for the day’s early Premier League kick-off.

Spurs headed into the tie in fine form, having not lost a league clash since the opening weekend of the season.

West Brom, on the other hand, have had a nightmare start to life back in the English top-flight.

The Baggies kicked off against Spurs having failed to notch a single win in their previous seven league attempts.

And, unsurprisingly, it would be the north Londoners who emerged from the Hawthorns with all three points thanks to a late Harry Kane header:

Tottenham could be champions elsewhere in Europe

Said result means that the Lilywhites head into the international break very much in the title picture.

Tottenham are just one point off table-topping Leicester and above 3rd-place Liverpool on goal difference.

However, speaking post-West Brom, Jose Mourinho did seem to try and temper expectations when it comes to a title challenge from his side.

The Portuguese tactician made the point of stating Spurs could be champions in many European countries.

However, he quickly added that the Premier League is the most difficult division before listing off all the top clubs:

“I would say that this team could be champion in many European countries.

“The Premier League is the most difficult one to be, because in the Premier League you can do a good season, can have lots of points, but in the end…Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man United, Leicester, Arsenal.

“So you can have a good season and not be champion. So what can we do? We go match after match. We try to win, we don’t care about the others.”
