Martin Kelly played just 33 times in the Premier League for Liverpool – six fewer matches than he has with his current club Crystal Palace.
But it seems the defender found it difficult to celebrate his current employers’ brilliant victory over his former side on Sunday.
Despite his limited game time with Liverpool – where his rise from the academy was scuppered by injuries – it seems he struggled to cope with the feeling of beating them at Anfield.

Video footage and pictures from the match show Kelly not celebrating as Palace pulled off a shock win over Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Yannick Bolasie’s smart finish put the south London side ahead after 21 minutes – but as the forward was mobbed by his team-mates, Kelly walked back to his own half with his head bowed.
Philippe Coutinho levelled before half-time but Scott Dann’s 82nd-minute header sparked joyous scenes as he raced towards the jubilant away fans to celebrate wildly with his team-mates.
Kelly, despite standing just yards away from Dann when he smartly nodded home, simply turned around and walked back to his own half.

MARTIN KELLY’S CAREER STATS
Liverpool (2008-14)
Games played: 62
Goals: 1
Huddersfield (on loan, 2009)
Games played: 7
Goals scored: 1
Crystal Palace (2014-)
Games played: 45
Goals scored: 0
Few would expect Kelly, who was brought up in Whiston, Merseyside, to goad the Liverpool fans as they watched their first defeat under Klopp.
But it marks another chapter in an increasing trend of players refusing to celebrate goals for their current club against an old one.
As well as the fact he wasn’t the scorer, it seems odd that Kelly didn’t celebrate given his interview to Sportsmail in May.
Speaking before his first return to Anfield, he said: ‘I was at that age where I didn’t want to wait for my chance for months on end at Liverpool. I had three years left there but it wasn’t a difficult decision.
‘Looking back it was the right one. I could have been sat at Liverpool on not many appearances. I had a few bad injuries in my early 20s and I just needed to put them behind me and get a run of games under my belt.
‘After being at Liverpool since the age of seven, Palace are now in my heart. It’s good to be part of such a passionate club.’
It just seems a shame that he wasn’t able to join in with that passion during their latest triumph.
