Stoke admit that goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is likely to be talking to other clubs amid speculation linking the Bosnia international with Manchester United.
Begovic is among the leading contenders to succeed David De Gea if he leaves Old Trafford for Real Madrid, and has indicated that he is only interested in moving to a club where he can be first choice.
The Spaniards are understood to be preparing a formal offer to United in the knowledge that De Gea is ready to reject the offer of a new £200,000-a-week deal and return to Madrid to be closer to his girlfriend and family.

Begovic has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Roma and Inter Milan
Begovic, who has one year left on his contract at Stoke and would cost in the region of £8million, has also attracted interest from Chelsea, Roma and Inter Milan as negotiations over a new deal with Stoke have stalled.
The club’s chief executive Tony Scholes said on Thursday: ‘We would very much like him to extend his contract, but I think Asmir has said himself that he is keeping his options open and seeing what might be available for him.
‘If I’m speaking frankly, I don’t know whether or who he might be speaking to. That’s not accusing him of anything, it’s just saying that’s the reality.’
Chelsea’s Petr Cech, Tottenham No 1 Hugo Lloris and Holland international Jasper Cillessen, who played under United boss Louis van Gaal at the World Cup last summer, are others in the frame to replace De Gea.
