England’s most storied soccer club has an American owner and will begin play next season with a big, bold, iconic American logo on its jerseys.
Manchester United and Nike unveiled the new Chevy-sponsored kits Monday, with the car company’s famous logo featured right on the players’ chests.
Chevrolet paid $600 million to have its logo on the shirts of one of the world’s most popular soccer team for the next seven seasons. Chevy is the club’s fifth jersey sponsor, following Sharp, Vodafone, AIG and Aon.
The new uniforms were unveield in a video that showed fans throughout history singing the team’s fight song and shedding past kits for the latest versions. The final scene ends with star forward Wayne Rooney surrounded by teammates Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa along with fans in front of Old Trafford wearing the new, collarless uniform.

“This year belongs to you,” Rooney says in the video. “Always has, always will.”
Keeping with the American theme, Man U will wear the new uniforms for the first time here in the States, when they take on the LA Galaxy in a pre-season exhibition on July 23.
