Man United’s Paul Pogba gets unfair criticism – Berbatov

Pogba’s Man United stint

Paul Pogba returned to Manchester United in August of 2016.

The Manchester powerhouse are understood to have paid a club-record £93.2m for the Frenchman.

Despite the hefty fee and his previously impressive form at Juventus, Pogba’s second spell at United has been somewhat hit and miss.

The midfielder’s biggest issue has been his inconsistent displays.

Pogba was fairly poor under Jose Mourinho, he then played some superb football when Ole Gunner Solskjaer first took the reins at Old Trafford before once again showing a dip in displays towards the back end of last term.

This has led to some supporters not exactly being the biggest fans of the World Cup winner.

Berbatov defends Pogba

Pogba has also come under fire from certain pundits since returning to Old Trafford.

But now, Man United legend Dimitar Berbatov has spoken out in defense of Pogba.

Berbatov believes the criticism the midfielder gets is unfair and he is one of those players who just gets criticised for the sake of it.

The Bulgarian also stated he has seen Pogba train and has no doubts about his work ethic:

“The criticism Pogba gets is unfair and he, like some other players, get criticised just for the sake of it, it doesn’t matter what he does.

“He is doing everything he can to get fit and when he plays to help his team because I have seen first-hand how he used to train with us as a boy, with ambition and the aspiration to be one of the best, so I don’t doubt his work ethic and desire to become even better. All he will want to do right now is play football, we are all human beings and as much as you try to avoid it, criticism always gets to you.

“I would like to see Pogba get fit as soon as possible and not get injured again, so that he can do what he does best and we can see him play great football.” As quoted by the Evening Standard.
