Man City’s Raheem Sterling back on Real Madrid’s transfer radar

Speculation in the media this weekend has once again linked Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling with Real Madrid.

Raheem Sterling struggling for action

The Englishman has of course been a mainstay in City’s attack for many years now.

In 285 outings for the Sky Blues, Sterling has managed to net 113 goals and provide 86 assists – playing a key role in Man City’s dominance of the English top-flight of the last several years.

However, recent weeks have seen Guardiola limit Sterling’s minutes in both the league and in Europe.

Sterling featured for just two minutes over two legs as City saw off BVB in the Champions League.

And before being handed a start in City’s 1-0 loss vs Chelsea on Saturday, the 26-year-old had also started just once in the PL over the previous four games, not playing any part in two of those ties.

Real Madrid interested in Sterling

Guardiola tried to explain Sterling’s lack of action recently, simply claiming he was not starting because there are a number of other top players competing with him such as Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus.

Now though, after falling down the pecking order at the Etihad, Sterling has once again been linked with Real Madrid.

Sterling fuelled speculation over a potential Bernabeu switch earlier this year when he refused to rule out a move:

“No one knows what the future will hold. I am a player and I am always open to challenges but right now my challenge is at Manchester City.

“In the future, hopefully, who knows…”

Now, according to the Daily Star, Sterling is back on Madrid’s transfer radar after losing his place to Foden.

His lack of action, coupled with his new contract talks beening shelved for the season, according to the Star, means Sterling is once again attracting strong interest from Los Blancos.
