Man City linked with Denis Zakaria/ Phil Foden expected to start vs Iceland

Several updates concerning Manchester City have emerged online over the last 24 hours.

Man City linked with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder

The first update concerns a potential transfer for the Citizens.

With Fernandinho now in the twilight years of his career and Rodri perhaps not as suited to Pep Guardiola’s style as people may have hoped, Man City could probably do with some reinforcements in the center of the pitch.

And according to a recent report from Italy, City are seemingly already eyeing up some fresh legs in said area.

As per Calciomercato, Manchester City are ‘on the trail’ of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, Denis Zakaria.

However, the same report also credits German giants FC Bayern Munich with an interest in the Swiss star, who has reportedly decided against renewing his latest contract, which runs until 2022.

Foden to start for England vs Iceland

The next piece of City news concerns one of their current players.

Phil Foden faced a short exile from the England squad after breaking Covid-19 rules in Iceland back in September.

Foden has since regained some favour with Gareth Southgate, who named him in his latest England squad.

However, Foden would play no role in England’s loss to Belgium and only came on as a sub vs the Republic of Ireland

Now though, with the Three Lions set to face Iceland on Wednesday evening in a rather pointless tie, Foden is reportedly set to be handed a start by Southgate:
