Liverpool figures – including Trent Alexander-Arnold & Jordan Henderson – speak out against European Super League

A number of Liverpool figures have this evening spoken out against the planned European Super League.

Liverpool figures speak out against ESL

The Super League was announced on Sunday evening, with Liverpool, along with five other Premier League sides, named as founding members.

However, after high-profile individuals across the football landscape spoke out against the competition, it now appears as though the ESL is on the verge of collapse.

Chelsea and Manchester City have already moved to end their involvement with the initiative, with UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson having urged the remaining English sides involved to follow in the two clubs’ footsteps:

As of writing, it is yet to be confirmed whether Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United or Liverpool will indeed end their involvement with the ESL.

It has now been made crystal clear by the latter’s players, though, that they are very much opposed to the plans.

Jordan Henderson, captain of Liverpool, released a joint statement on the part of Liverpool’s players, confirming their opposition to the league, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Neco Williams having since also passed on the message:

Liverpool legend and non-executive director Sir Kenny Dalglish has too urged his club to ‘do the right thing’:
