Mamadou Sakho’s 30-day provisional ban for failing a drugs test ends on Saturday – but UEFA have still not set a date for his disciplinary hearing.
The Liverpool defender is waiting to be told what his punishment will be by UEFA’s control, ethics and disciplinary body but will not find out his fate this week.
Sakho was slapped with a 30-day suspension after testing positive for a banned substance following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United in the Europa League on March 17.

The Frenchman tested positive for taking a ‘fat-burner’ drug after the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in March
He went on to make two further appearances in the competition’s quarter-finals against Borussia Dortmund, and even scored as Liverpool won 5-4 on aggregate.
European football’s governing body opened disciplinary proceedings on April 28 – hours before Liverpool faced Villarreal in the Europa League semi-final first leg.
The 26-year-old did not request to have a B sample tested after the doping violation, with reports suggesting it was a fat-burner.
When asked about Sakho’s disciplinary hearing, a UEFA spokesman told Sportsmail : ‘A date has not been confirmed yet. More information will follow as of next week.’
As it is the end of the season, the ban ending makes little difference to Liverpool and Sakho, but the club and player expected to be told when the disciplinary hearing would be by now.
It was this week suggested that it could take place on Thursday but these reports took Liverpool by surprise, who also confirmed there is no date set yet.
Sakho made 34 appearances in all competitions for Liverpool this season but missed out on the Europa League final, which they lost 3-1 to Sevilla, due to his suspension.
The club’s hierarchy also decided to make Sakho unavailable for selection after news broke of his doping violation before their Barclays Premier League game against Newcastle United on April 23.
Sakho is also absent from France’s squad for Euro 2016 on home soil.
