‘Little contact’ between Arsenal and Norwich’s Emi Buendia in recent weeks

An update surrounding Arsenal’s rumoured pursuit of Emi Buendia has emerged on Monday.

Arsenal keen on Buendia

Recent months have seen Arsenal heavily linked with a swoop for Norwich’s Buendia.

The winger/midfielder was one of the Canaries’ brighter sparks amid an altogether disappointing 2019/20 season, which saw them once again relegated to the Championship.

On the back of their demotion, though, Buendia has continued to impress, notching seven goals and seven assists in 20 league outings.

As a result, it is easy to see why Arsenal, a side devoid of creativity, may be interested in the 24-year-old.

It was even claimed recently that the Gunners were willing to offer Reiss Nelson as part of a deal for Buendia.

The Argentine himself, meanwhile, has confirmed that he would be open to returning to the Premier League, either through promotion or via a transfer.

Latest on Arsenal’s interest in Buendia

With over half of the winter window having now passed, however, Arsenal do not appear to have made too much progress in their reported pursuit of Buendia.

It was even claimed earlier this month that La Liga outfit Valencia had stepped up their chase of the Norwich standout.

The latest update surrounding Buendia’s Emirates links to have surfaced on Monday, meanwhile, is unlikely to fill the Gunners faithful with too much confidence regarding the Argentine’s potential arrival.

As per James Benge, a reliable source when it comes to Arsenal news, Buendia is in fact one of the club’s key targets.

However, to this point, there has been little contact between the parties over the early weeks of the month.

It is also added, though, that the situation could yet change over the weeks ahead.
