Leeds transfer latest: Fresh interest in Man United’s Dan James/Malinovskyi eyed as De Paul alternative

A pair of updates surrounding the transfer plans of Leeds United have been forthcoming online this weekend.

James eyed

First, the Whites have been tipped for a fresh swoop for Manchester United winger Daniel James.

Welsh international James of course only made the move to Old Trafford last summer, after impressing in the Championship with Swansea City.

Just months prior to his arrival in Manchester, though, the 22-year-old was actually all set to join Leeds.

A deadline day switch to Elland Road had appeared imminent, only for a last-minute change of heart from Swansea resulting in the transfer’s collapse.

If the latest word stemming from the media over the last 24 hours is to be believed, though, then Marcelo Bielsa’s hopes of luring James to West Yorkshire appear to have been revived, a full 18 months later.

As per a number of reports, Leeds are readying an offer to Manchester United for James.

The proposal is expected to be worth a fee in the region of £12 million, plus add-ons.

It of course remains to be seen, though, whether Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. would be willing to sanction a sale, with James having actually started (and disappointed) in the Red Devils’ season opener versus Crystal Palace yesterday evening.

Atalanta star incoming?

The 2nd update surrounding potential arrivals at Elland Road over the weeks to come, meanwhile, surrounds Ruslan Malinovskyi.

Ukrainian midfielder Malinovskyi is another to have only recently linked up with a new club, having swapped Belgian outfit Genk for Atalanta last summer.

The 27-year-old went on to play a key role in La Dea’s remarkable campaign, as Gian Piero Gasperini’s men clinched a 3rd-place Serie A finish, before making it all the way to the last-8 of the Champions League.

All told, Malinovskyi racked up 9 goals and 7 assists across 44 appearances (including the stunning 2nd in the clip below):

And it is evidently this kind of production which has piqued the interest of Leeds.

The Whites are known to be on the lookout for attack-minded reinforcements in the middle of the park, with Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul having been heavily linked of late.

As the Premier League outfit continue to be frustrated in their attempts to land the Argentine international, though, they are now said to have switched their attentions firmly to Malinovskyi:
