Klopp provides fresh updates on van Dijk, Henderson & more ahead of Man United vs Liverpool

Man United vs Liverpool

This weekend’s marquee Premier League clash will play out on Sunday afternoon.

Manchester United are set to host Liverpool, in a huge game for the latter.

United begin the weekend’s action sitting 2nd, with a 12-point advantage over 5th – meaning their spot in next season’s Champions League is already all but secured.

Liverpool, on the other hand, have it all to play for, and cannot afford to drop any points across their final five league outings this term.

At present, the Reds sit 6th in the English top-flight, four points adrift of 4th-placed Chelsea. Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to win either of their previous two Premier League games, with the form of Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino becoming a real concern.

Jurgen Klopp on van Dijk, Gomez & more

Ahead of Sunday’s crunch clash, Jurgen Klopp spoke to the media on Friday afternoon.

The German discussed a number of topics during the presser, first providing fitness updates on Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jordan Henderson.

Klopp, though, confirmed that all four remain ‘a lot of steps away’ from joining team training.

“I don’t have enough English words to say the same thing that often. Yes he is running like Hendo, Joe and Joel. Rehab always starts with straight line running. Lot of things to come, a lot of steps before finally ready to join team training.

“They are all quite away from that. Nobody has told me they are in team training next week. But they are in a good way.”
