In the age of the Super Agent it is refreshing to see that a player of the calibre of Kevin De Bruyne feels he is able to handle his own contract negotiations.
Assisted by his father and a lawyer in Belgium, he has added two additional years to a contract which already had two years to run. The deal is said to be worth more than his previous contract, which stood at £300,000 a week.
Kevin de Bruyne has negotiated his new Manchester City contract *without* any agent involved. It’s something very rare, maybe incredible in today’s football.

De Bruyne was able to highlight to City, through data collected, his value to the team and how he was their most influential player. He also commissioned them to assess how Man City are set up for the next few years based on the age and qualities of the current squad.

The extension of his stay was obviously well received by the club and Director of football Txiki Begiristain spoke of the importance of the deal.
“This is a very significant moment for this football club.”
“Kevin is, without question, one of the best players in world football. His performance level has been remarkably consistent since coming to City, and in the last few years he has developed into one of the game’s elite players.”
