Joleon Lescott has become embroiled in another social media storm after challenging a critical Aston Villa fan to voice his grievances in person.
The former England defender reacted badly to online abuse, angrily inviting the supporter to come to Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground.
Writing on his j.p.lescott Instagram account on Tuesday night, he told a user named @oward98: ‘I’m at the training ground tomorrow. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come down and try. FACT YOU WONT.’

The statement tweeted by Lescott as the Aston Villa captain claimed he uploaded the photo by accident
The previous messages cannot be seen but Sportsmail understands a deeply personal and offensive threat was made to Lescott. He could contact police, but that is unlikely.
Nevertheless, Lescott’s reaction in a public forum is further bad publicity for a Villa side plunging towards the Championship.
Lescott, 33, infuriated fans following the 6-0 defeat by Liverpool by posting a picture of a £121,000 Mercedes on his Twitter page – but later claimed he had done so accidentally.

LESCOTT’S ‘POCKET TWEET’
In order to upload a photograph alongside a tweet, Lescott’s phone would have had to perform the following by itself…
– Phone unlocked
– Twitter app opened
– Icon to send tweet selected
– Add image icon selected
– Image from album selected
– Click to upload image into tweet selected
– Tweet sent
Lescott also took a swipe at Stan Collymore, after the former Villa striker offered his thoughts on the tweet of the luxury sports car.
Responding to another fan on Instagram, Lescott wrote: ‘That Tweet got more press than our performance. That div Stan Collymore getting involved like he never made a mistake, his a complete tool.’ Lescott was asked why he hasn’t deleted the Mercedes picture from his Twitter account.
He replied: ‘Why delete it? It happened so I’ve gotta deal with it. Shall I just delete Sunday’s game No it happened so I have gotta deal with it.’ In another exchange Lescott, who has scored three goals this season, conceded Sunday’s 6-0 loss to Liverpool was unacceptable.
He wrote: ‘Confidence is very low so it’s harder than usual when we do go 1 down but still no excuse for Sunday.’

The former England defender was critical of Stan Collymore who offered his own thoughts on Lescott’s tweet
