Chelsea captain John Terry says he has worked harder than ever for his fourth Barclays Premier League crown but admits that, like Didier Drogba, he may one day be forced to leave Stamford Bridge.
Terry, 34, is still a senior member of the champions’ squad and having retired from international football he has taken up extra sessions in the gym to keep up with Chelsea’s youngsters.
The one-club captain signed a new one year contract in March but with Drogba the latest of the old guard to leave, he admits that even he may have play in a shirt other than the royal blue he is used to one day.

While most of the Premier League’s top stars were involved in last summer’s World Cup, former England skipper Terry spent some time off on the beaches of Dubai and the downtime seems to have paid off after he played every minute of Chelsea’s title-winning campaign.
‘I certainly enjoyed the full six weeks off this year when they were in Brazil,’ Terry said. ‘Well I think I’ve been to Dubai three times just to get a bit of sun as well but that comes down to the trust as well.
‘The manager trusts me, at this stage of my career, I’ve just found I can’t take any days off so when I get days off, even when the manager says to me “you can go to Dubai, you can do whatever you want for three or four days”, when the lads are away on international breaks, I’m in the gym every morning.

The Chelsea skipper says he has had to be in the gym every day this season to keep his levels up
‘I’m in there twice a day, I train with the youngsters but if I’m out of the country I’m in the gym every morning, on the beach, running around so I’m fit and I think that’s key.’
Drogba is likely to join former Chelsea hero Frank Lampard and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard in Major League Soccer next season, and Terry admitted that could be an option for him if the champions do eventually let him leave.
Centre back Terry has his contract reviewed on a yearly basis, as is the case for all players of his age at Stamford Bridge, and while he is desperate to stay on as long as he can he admits a move may be inevitable one day.

Terry has been at the club his whole career, but admits there is a chance he could play in the MLS one day
‘I’d love to finish my career at Chelsea, I certainly don’t want to play for another Premier League club or another club in England, I don’t think you get that loyalty in football anymore,’ he told talkSPORT.
‘If Chelsea decide otherwise, whether that be next year or the year after, and I still feel as if I can play, I’ll go to America, wherever the opportunities are there, at that stage of my career it would need to suit not only my career and my family as well but ideally for me, my family are local, I’d love to finish and stay at Chelsea.’
