Insight provided into Moussa Dembele’s ‘stance’ on potential Man United move

The reliable Manchester Evening News have suggested that Lyon star Moussa Dembele is keen to join Manchester United this summer.

Lyon standout

23-year-old hitman Dembele made a return to his home country in the summer of 2018, when the Frenchman joined Lyon from Celtic for €22 million.

And, on the back of an impressive stint with the Scottish champions, Dembele has since gone on to carry his goalscoring exploits back to Ligue 1.

The powerful attacker’s debut season at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais saw him rack up 20 goals and 6 assists across all competitions.

And Dembele has continued to impress to this point in the current campaign, having found the back of the net on 22 occasions prior to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Dembele keen on United?

As such, the French talent, who has also been prolific for Les Bleus’ U21 side, is unsurprisingly beginning to catch the eye of some of European football’s heavyweights.

Reports earlier this season saw Manchester United heavily-linked with a swoop for Dembele.

Duncan Castles even went as far as to claim that contact had already been established with Lyon on the part of the Red Devils:

‘I can tell you there has been contact between Manchester United and individuals close to Moussa Dembele to assess the player’s interest in the move and to work out what the cost would be in terms of salary.’

And, as outlined above, an insight into Dembele’s stance on potentially securing a move to Old Trafford this summer has today been provided.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Frenchman appears very much open to a Red Devils switch.

In fact, it is claimed that Dembele ‘would find it hard’ to reject Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co.

Lyon’s missing out on a Champions League berth for next season could also prove significant, after the decision to call time on the French top-flight campaign left Les Gones in a lowly 7th in the Ligue 1 table.

Finally, it is added that Dembele is one of a number of attacking options under consideration on the part of United’s transfer chiefs, though the two clubs are not thought to be in active negotiations as things stand.
