Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has recently provided some insight into Liverpool’s chances of landing Villarreal star, Arnaut Danjuma, in January.

Danjuma joins Villarreal

Danjuma is likely most remembered by English football fans for his stint with AFC Bournemouth.

Danjuma joined Bournemouth in 2019 from Club Brugge. The winger was unable to help the Cherries avoid relegation, but would shine for them in the Championship last season.

In 33 league games last term, he scored 15 and assisted a further seven as Bournemouth narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

However, after missing out on promotion, Bournemouth opted to sell the winger to the current Europa League holders, Villareal.

The 24-year-old has since scored seven and assisted two in 15 outings across all competitions for the Yellow Submarine.

Liverpool’s chance of landing Danjuma revealed

After a stellar start to life in Spain, Danjuma would be linked with Premier League powerhouse, Liverpool.

And with both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah set to depart for the African Cup of Nations in January, wide reinforcements would likely be very welcome on Merseyside during the winter window.

However, Fabrizio Romano has, on the latest episode of his Here We Go Podcast, provided an inight into Liverpool’s chances of landing the Dutchman in January.

And unfortunately for Liverpool, such a move coming to fruition in the next window seems very unlikely.

Romano reports that Villarreal have no plan and no intention to sell the winger in January, with a move labelled as ‘close to being impossible in January’:

Liverpool are following him, are watching him, since that he was at Bournemouth and now he’s doing great with Villarreal. But guys I see that somewhere they reported Fabrizio said Liverpool are going to sign the Danjuma in January. No, I said they are super interested in the Danjuma, they’re looking at wingers. But I also said, and I want to say again, that Villarreal have absolutely no plan and no intention to sell Danjuma in January so it’s close to being impossible in January. So Liverpool appreciate the player but for January is going to be impossible and the priority is still Mo Salah contract for Liverpool.
