‘I do not do theatre and If I lose, I’m pissed off.’ Koeman sends strong message to woeful Barcelona squad

‘I do not do theatre’

Barcelona have performed horrifically in La Liga this season. At the weekend they lost their forth match to promoted club Cadiz. The lowly Spanish club featuring former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo have also taken a victory over Barca’s typical title rivals Real Madrid.

Ronald Koeman has come under increased scrutiny considering their 9th placed position after 10 games and 12 points off league leaders Atletico Madrid.

The Dutch coach has not been impressed by the performances of his players and ahead of their Champions League group winner decided against Juventus was blunt in how he has spoken to the players.

“It is to be unhappy. You always have to analyse a defeat and there is a difference in losing a game like the other Saturday than in losing in the Atlético field. Because of how they mark us, because of how they create danger,” said Koeman.

“I do not do theatre and If I lose, I’m pi**ed off. That’s what I told the players in yesterday’s meeting. Being at Barça you can’t accept goals that we’ve conceded in several games.”

Despite the poor league form, Barca have won all their group stage matches so far and will hope they can continue their streak with a win against Ronaldo’s Juve as he and Messi meet for the first time since the Portuguese forward left Real Madrid.
