The race to finish in the top 4

Man City’s legal victory in overturning a 2-year UEFA ban has had a significant impact on the Premier League.

Crucially, the top 4 in the Premier League will now qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Liverpool have already secured a Champions League berth as champions, as have Man City as the league’s runners-up.

Chelsea, Leicester, Man United and Wolves are battling it out for the final two spots.

How Man United & Leicester could finish 4th but fail qualify for the Champions League

There’s one unlikely scenario on the cards which could see Man United or Leicester City finish in 4th place but still fail to qualify for the 2020-21 Champions League.

For this to happen, Chelsea would need to win this season’s Champions League.

That looks nigh-on impossible after Bayern Munich beat Chelsea 3-0 in London in their last-16 first-leg tie.

Yet, in this nightmare possibility for Man United and Leicester, not only do Chelsea need to win the Champions League but they also need to finish 5th.
