Highlights: Jadon Sancho sets Bundesliga record with hat-trick vs Paderborn/Unveils ‘Justice for George Floyd’ T-Shirt

Borussia Dortmund’s drubbing of Paderborn this evening saw Jadon Sancho steal the show with both a hat-trick, and an eye-catching celebration.

Dortmund run riot

Lucien Favre’s men visited the Benteler-Arena earlier today, for a meeting with Bundesliga basement dwellers Paderborn.

BVB headed into proceedings in search of a bounce-back result, after seeing the club’s remaining title hopes go up in smoke at home to Bayern Munich last time out.

And, when all was said and done in the North Rhine-Westphalia, bounce back was precisely what Dortmund managed.

After a disappointing opening 45 minutes, the visitors exploded into life following the interval, to eventually put 6 past Paderborn.

Thorgan Hazard, Achraf Hakimi and Marcel Schmelzer were all on target, but, as outlined above, it was another of Favre’s star-studded attack who grabbed the headlines.

Sancho dazzles

The player in question? Jadon Sancho.

After featuring off the bench in Dortmund’s prior 3 outings amid fitness issues, English international Sancho returned to the club’s starting XI with a bang this evening.

First, the prodigious wide-man netted BVB’s crucial 2nd of the matchup from close range, following some superb work down the left from Julian Brandt:

Sancho’s brace soon followed, when a pull-back to the edge of the Paderborn box saw the youngster do brilliantly to create space, before unleashing a pinpoint left-footed finish beyond Leopold Zingerle in the hosts’ goal:

And with just seconds remaining, Sancho went on to secure his hat-trick, following a typically slick Dortmund breakaway:

As well as rounding out his hat-trick, meanwhile, the former Manchester City youth’s final strike of the day also saw Sancho write his name into the history books of the Bundesliga:

Sancho’s celebration

The attacker’s goalscoring exploits, though, were not the only contributing factor to Sancho stealing the headlines across the media this evening.

Following his first strike, the Dortmund star removed his jersey, to unveil a ‘Justice for George Floyd’ T-shirt, after Floyd’s death at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis earlier this week sparked mass protests across the United States:
