Harry Kane backs Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham to ‘do something special’

Tottenham see off Burnley

Week six of the 2020/21 Premier League season drew to a close on Monday evening.

The final clash of the game week saw Tottenham face a tough trip to Turf Moor.

Spurs headed into the tie on the back of a decent run of form, going unbeaten in their previous four league ties.

As for Burnley, they were still searching for their first league win of the campaign.

And when all was said and done after 90 minutes, the result would reflect the two sides’ form.

The Clarets did a decent job of keeping quiet a slightly more conservative Spurs for large parts of Monday’s game.

But as has so often been the case this season, it would be Harry Kane and Heung-min Son who combined to fire the Lilywhites into the lead.

Erik Lamela’s corner in the 76th minute would see Harry Kane glance the ball across goal, straight into Son’s path who then headed past Nick Pope to secure Spurs the three points:

That victory would move Tottenham up to 5th in the table, just two points adrift of table-topping, Everton.

The north Londoners are also doing well in cup competitions this term – making it to the last eight of the League Cup and winning their first Europa League group game of the campaign last week.

As a result, the mood around Spurs is seemingly pretty positive and with Jose Mourinho at the helm, Tottenham no doubt fancy their chances of ending their trophy drought sooner rather than later.

One man who is seemingly very optimistic right now is Harry Kane, with the Spurs hitman voicing the opinion post-Burnley that this current Tottenham squad can do something special:

“I think we are at a stage where we have been so close for so many years, a lot of us have been together for four or five years. The additions this year have been great and we are all getting more experienced.

“We know with the team we have got and the players we have got, we can do something special.

“It’s making sure when you come to places like this you are fighting for every point and result. To bounce back and grind these results out, these are the results that count at the end of the season.”
