Louis van Gaal has given Luke Shaw four days off so he doesn’t have to attend Manchester United’s Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven but Dutch fans have still made a special banner for the crocked defender.
The England left back is still recovering from a broken leg sustained in the reverse fixture in Holland in September after a brutal challenge by Hector Moreno, and is also suffering from the monotony of the rehabilitation process. Van Gaal will let Shaw do his own thing for a few days and skip the match to avoid any painful memories of his horrific injury.
PSV supporters were also left horrified by the injury and have organised a touching message of support for the 20-year-old.

The United manager said: ‘He is a little bit fed up with the daily routine so I gave him four days off.
‘I thought why he is fed up. Maybe it is because of the PSV match and that every player has to watch the game from the stadium to support their colleagues. I don’t think (Shaw will be at Old Trafford) but I don’t know. Maybe he’ll surprise me. You can always surprise me.’
Van Gaal said he did not need to warn his players against revenge on Moreno — ‘I don’t think that will be an issue. It was not his purpose. In football, it can happen’ — and provided an injury update on Shaw’s recuperation.
He said the 20-year-old was responding well, but added: ‘You have to be very cautious with an injury like that.
‘On Friday he has a scan and we’ll know then more about how the injury is going. He is a big loss.’
Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have recovered from illness and an injured foot respectively and are poised to feature against PSV, but Van Gaal said each must prove fitness and effectiveness in his tactics in order to start — even his captain.
When asked if Rooney’s privileges had returned, Van Gaal said: ‘No, that is not automatic. It is always a decision of the manager. I always compare players with each other and I take into account how fit they are in the training sessions.
‘That is why Marouane Fellaini and Rooney and Martial have to show it on the training ground. Then I have to compare which are the best players to fit in our game plan.’
Memphis Depay could continue as centre forward against his former side after his goal in the win at Watford on Saturday.

Van Gaal believed the £25million summer signing was less restricted in his role up front than on the wing, where he has struggled for form this season.
‘How we played at Watford was more or less the same system as I played with the Dutch national team,’ said Van Gaal. ‘Then he has more freedom, like Arjen Robben, and can excel. He showed that in the first half.’
And United legend Ruud Van Nistelrooy has also backed the No 7 to rediscover his best form.
Speaking at the Oxford Union, the Holland assistant coach said: ‘To make a difference at United, it means being really brilliant and being decisive in big games. He is not yet ready for that quite yet.
‘He will rise, though, and become better and more influential. He will get there, I’m sure.’
