Gareth Bale’s agent confirms representatives are ready to protect Super League-bound players from UEFA

The agent of Tottenham loan star Gareth Bale has assured that he and his colleagues are ready to do whatever it takes to protect the players bound for the European Super League.

Heavyweights eye change

The subject of the ESL has of course grabbed headlines across the globe for almost 48 hours straight now.

This comes after 12 of the continent’s biggest clubs revealed plans to break away, to form a new ‘closed shop’ Champions League alternative.

The sides to have signed up, as things stand, come in the form of:

Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

The proposal, inevitably, has been met by widespread opposition across the continent, as fans, pundits, footballing institutions and even some players fight back against what is viewed as little more than an initiative to make the rich richer.

‘Fight for rights of the players’

One set of individuals central to the game who, for the most part, have since remained tight-lipped on the back of the announcement of the Super League plans, though, are player agents.

This comes despite UEFA’s direct threat that those involved could be banned from participating not only in their domestic leagues, but also in both the upcoming European Championships and World Cup:

But, as outlined above, on Tuesday, the representative of one of European football’s most high-profile stars has spoken up.

And the message has proven an unwavering one.

During an interview with the BBC, Jonathan Barnett, the agent of Tottenham loanee Gareth Bale, confirmed that he, along with his colleagues, are ready to do whatever it takes to protect their clients against the threats of UEFA and more.

This comes with the stars of the game, nor their representatives for that matter, having not been consulted in any way regarding the formation of the Super League:

‘We will go to court to fight for the rights of the players,’ Barnett assured.
