Gabriel and Walker could return

There has been a recent increase in the number of positive Covid-19 tests for many of the Premier League’s playing and backroom staff. In fact, 18 positive results were returned in the last round of testing which was double the amount of the previous week.

Manchester City were hit with Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker both testing positive for the virus meaning they needed to self isolate and have been missing for Pep Guardiola’s side.

However, if the pair were to test negative today in the latest round of Premier League tests, they could return from isolation on Monday and train ahead of the Manchester derby in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday.

Whether or not the pair would be able to reach match fitness before the game is unknown. However, they will still miss the match against Chelsea this weekend.

City currently sit 8th in the Premier League table after a struggling start to the season. However, after the match with the West London club Guardiola and his team have a run of fixtures which are considered very favourable for the Citizens to begin a positive run.

Messi reveals Pep talks

The future of Lionel Messi has been one of the great discussions of the season, with the Argentine’s contract expiring at the end of the current campaign. There have been links with the 34-year-old moving to PSG and joining up with former teammate Neymar.

However, the presence of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City has continually caused reason to be brought forth regarding a possible move to the North West of England.

In a recent interview, Messi revealed that he has regular conversations with Guardiola, however they are not specifically regarding his future.

“I don’t know how long my last chat with Pep Guardiola was, but we do talk,” Messi said. “We don’t talk about whether we are going to meet again. For me Pep is the best, he has something special.”

“I’m not negotiating as a free agent with any club. As I said, I have nothing clear until the end of the season. Let’s see how we do this season and what happens.”

“I’m not gonna join Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid,” he added. “It’s absolutely impossible. I don’t know if I’ll leave Barca, I’ll talk about it at the end of the season. I hope to be part of Barcelona as club also when I’ll retire.”

Only time will tell where he will eventually see the Iconic footballing wizardry of Lionel Messi come the end of the current season.
