Frank Lampard provides updates on Kante, Willian, RLC & goalkeeping situation ahead of Arsenal

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard this afternoon provided an update on his squad, ahead of the fast-approaching FA Cup final.

Arsenal vs Chelsea

Saturday evening is set to see two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs face off, for the final piece of silverware of the English calendar.

After booking their spots in the tournament’s showpiece courtesy of impressive wins over top-4 rivals two weeks ago, Arsenal and Chelsea will battle it out for FA Cup glory at Wembley in a little under 24 hours’ time.

The clash also marks a particularly significant one for the two managers involved, with Mikel Arteta and Frank Lampard both aiming to clinch a first trophy since taking their respective spots in the dugout.

Kante in, RLC doubt

And, as outlined above, ahead of Saturday’s crunch matchup, Chelsea’s boss has provided updates on a number of the key members of his squad.

Speaking in a press conference this afternoon, Frank Lampard opened up on a whole host of topics, one of which surrounded the goalkeeping situation at Stamford Bridge.

On the back of a disappointing spell of form, Kepa Arrizabalaga was of course dropped for Chelsea’s final Premier League outing of the campaign, last weekend versus Wolves.

As such, Lampard was inevitably drawn on whether the Spaniard could be handed the chance to redeem himself versus Arsenal, or if it is more likely that veteran Willy Caballero continues as no. 1.

The English tactician, though, was keen to keep his cards close to his chest, explaining:

‘It’s difficult because we have competition in the squad. I have changed it at times, we consider the games as we go – for big games, it becomes more difficult.’

‘I know how much players want to be in these games, but people off the bench have made a huge difference in recent games.’

‘It [leaving players out for a final] is difficult for me, difficult [for the players] to take, but players have to be positive.’

When it came to the fitness of star duo N’Golo Kante and Willian, however, Lampard was far less cryptic.

The Chelsea boss confirmed that both players are set to return to his matchday squad at Wembley, on the back of respective injury problems.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek, on the other hand, could miss out:
