Tottenham appoint Antonio Conte

Tottenham would sack Nuno Espirito Santo on the back of an unspectacular start to 2021/22 which had seen Spurs struggle for goals and, most recently, lose 3-0 to a struggling Manchester United side.

After sacking Nuno, Spurs took just over a day to officially announce that Antonio Conte would be their new boss.

Conte has joined the club on a deal that will initially run until 2023, but there is an option to extend it.

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Antonio Conte as our Head Coach on a contract until the summer of 2023, with an option to extend. Antonio has won titles in Serie A, including a hat-trick of Scudettos with Juventus, the Premier League and also managed Italy, leading the Azzurri to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

Following the appointment of Antonio Conte, Cesc Fabregas has expressed his thoughts on the move via Twitter.

The Spaniard of course played for Chelsea under Conte, securing both the Premier League and FA Cup in the process.

During his stints at Chelsea and Arsenal, meanwhile, Fabregas clearly embraced the hatred for Tottenham that comes with supporting the Gunners and Chelsea.

So, though he clearly isn’t a fan of Tottenham, Fabregas still moved to state that it was a good appointment, having the below to say on the matter:

I hate to say it but what an appointment by Spurs.
